In June 2023, Sandy Vohra Foundation and Amani Kibera CBO has partnered with the Zuri Initiative to pilot a group model (Chama set up) for the Stories of Hope (SOH) beneficiaries through the Zuri advanced business training. The Zuri Initiative focuses on the improvement of the socio-economic status of the Zuri women groups, through the Zuri Business Support Project. This project combines informal financial systems and advanced business coaching to give our beneficiaries confidence boost to venture into entrepreneurship and create a sustainable grass root financial system that will be a constant source of funding for the beneficiaries to start and maintain profitable businesses.
The Chama Group Program has significantly contributed to the economic and social empowerment of the Stories of Hope beneficiaries. The revolving fund of Ksh 60,000, coupled with regular table banking and comprehensive training sessions, has provided a robust foundation for sustainable development among the 45 members. Continued support and expansion of these initiatives will further enhance the program’s impact and reach.
